No, antibiotics target bacteria and have no effect against viruses. COVID-19 is caused by a virus, SARS-CoV-2, and as such, antibiotics are not effective in prevention or treatment. The misuse and without medical indication of antibiotics may contribute to the increase in resistance to antimicrobials (antibiotics) with a negative effect on individual and collective health.
